Foot Prosthesis – Information for Medical Professionals
Our facility integrates clinical anaplastology and lower-limb prosthetics under one multidisciplinary team, ensuring both the art and science of restoration are addressed.
Our approach ensures each restoration is a balanced blend of clinical accuracy, aesthetic excellence, and biomechanical stability.
- Anatomic precision: Detailed anatomical impressions or 3D scanning to replicate contour and volume
- Pigmentation strategy: multi-layer intrinsic coloration replicates veins, texture, and skin translucence
- Durability assurance: long-term colorfastness, edge stability, and repair potential
- Material science: Silicone durometer selection tailored for durability, flexibility, and comfort; intrinsic pigmentation for colorfast realism.
- Volume management: Prosthesis design accommodates soft-tissue volume fluctuation, edema, and temperature-induced changes.
- Integration potential: Compatible with mechanical articulation systems when function enhancement is indicated.
- Weight distribution design: tailored thickness and internal structure to reduce pressure points and improve gait
- Retention options: suction-fit, mechanical sleeve, or adhesive application
- Foot dynamics integration: design considerations for midfoot load bearing, toe-off stability, and remaining toe alignment
- Prosthetic synergy: optional collaboration with orthotic devices or inserts to support balance and alignment

The Prosthetic Foot Process
Our restoration process is as personalized as your story.
In many cases, your prosthesis can be completed within a few days of fitting sessions.
We first record causes of amputation (trauma, infection, circulation, congenital anomaly, etc.) and discuss goals and activities of daily living (ADLs). We make sure the affected foot is well healed and ready for prosthetic restoration.
On the same day we can take a simple silicone impression of the amputated and unaffected foot. From the silicone impression we are able to make a precise model of the residual foot.
In the next session we address both the skin texture details and the fit of the wax prototype of the foot in place. We verify you are happy with the length, shape, and alignment of the prototype
The fitting session also includes our skin color matching procedure with our custom swatches that accurately captures in photos the array of pigmentation. From experience and visual acuity the medical the artist can translate color references and make minute adjustments during fabrication using these nuanced silicone swatches.
The finished high resolution silicone prosthetic foot is demolded and prepared for final delivery. Any color details needed are painstakingly added by the anaplastologist.
We check each final prosthesis for fit and make any final adjustments. We want each client to be happy so we will make corrections or adjustments if needed. We provide full aftercare instructions (link to adhesives/instruction). Each prosthesis should last years, and master molds are safely archived for replacements whenever needed.
