We will be happy to assist you with travel information, recommend hotels based on your budget, and recommend points of interest for your family to enjoy during your trip.
Coming to our office for your custom prosthesis is easy, whether you are traveling from another state in the USA or from another country like many of our clients have. It usually only requires you to stay near our location for 3-5 days so we can work with you an hour or two each day. Here is a typical plan for you to receive your eye, nose, or ear prosthesis or your life-like custom fingertip or toe prosthesis:
- Day 1: We meet and get to know each other, and then start the process by taking a scan or a simple impression of the affected area. Don’t worry, because all our procedures are non-invasive and pain-free. After lunch we’ll have a design/sculpting session. You will already see your prosthesis taking shape.
- Day 2: We meet in the morning to finish sculpting, check fit/comfort, and discuss anything you want to address. We also take photos of color references and our wax prototypes in place, then you are free for the day.
- Day 3: You may have most or all of the day to relax or explore the city or town while we create a precision mold and prosthesis using all our reference materials.
- Day 4: The prosthesis is placed on you for final tinting and characterization, so it matches your skin precisely. The day is focused on getting everything just right. We demonstrate the proper use and care in handling your prosthesis right along with you, and we provide all the best adhesives and after care products, instructions, and resources for you to take home.
This is an average plan, but we often deliver eye, nose, or ear prosthetics or finger/toe prostheses in 2 or 3 days. More complex design prostheses sometimes require 4 or 5Â days. A single photo of the area of concern will usually allow us to say exactly what we will do and how many days it will take.
We often use our Artec Spider scanner from the award-winning Artec company to achieve maximum bilateral symmetry. And our 3D printing capabilities allow us to create precise prototypes for your prosthesis quickly without your presence in our facility!
