Join the more than 25 US surgeons who have have placed osseointegration fixtures to attach facial prosthetics such as auricular, nasal, and orbital prosthetics in collaboration with Medical Art Prosthetics anaplastologists. Our experience with osseointegration (OI) implant-retained prosthetics goes back to 1984. Documentation Best Practices

It is important to provide an accurate ICD-10 code on all prescriptions and medical record notes for compliance with payer requirements.  Please clearly document:

  • ICD-10 codes AND descriptor narratives
  • Direct connection between diagnosis, underlying cause, and resultant condition. For example:
    • Trauma: Partial or complete traumatic amputation (of digit, of pinna, etc.)
    • Disease: Complete rhinectomy secondary to squamous cell carcinoma
    • Congenital: Absence of the right pinna secondary to failed autologous reconstruction for microtia
  • Prosthesis description and notes that all consistently support the codes you select, such as:
    • Silicone prosthetic finger to restore length of residual digit for job, keyboarding, etc.
    • Midfacial prosthesis to cover defect cavity, protect exposed nasal mucosa, restore airway, etc.
    • Implant-retained magnetic ear prosthesis to, support eyeglasses, localize sound, etc.
