Lifelike Quality in the Silicone Prosthetic Foot and Toe
The custom made silicone prosthetic foot must look so life-like and match so accurately that it goes unnoticed. We specialize in making foot and toe prostheses that include all details like our client’s own skin texture, age spots, freckles, veins, etc. We have a nationally-accredited facility for both custom silicone prosthetics and lower limb prosthetics. To that unique distinction we add 6 highly trained and talented anaplastologists around the USA. We will make you an incredibly detailed custom silicone prosthetic foot or toe prosthesis in a location close to you.
Lower extremity prosthetics demands this multidisciplinary commitment. Camille's Story
Trinidad
A Custom Prosthetic Toe to Trinidad!
“Hello…Received the package today.
It is perfect!!!! My sincerest thank you, this goes beyond just a “toe”, it really does make a difference. I have a question regarding the nail, can i polish it? Also, what kind of adhesive can I use.
With gratitude and wishing you and your families a Merry and Holy Christmas.
Kind Regards,
“Camille”
Here is how this all happened. Medical Art Prosthetics receives the initial inquiry through the MAP website from a woman, “Camille”, in Trinidad who lost her big toe to a traumatic event. She cannot travel to our Tampa location due to a bad fall and must have her foot appearance restored to feel balanced and normal again. So, we sent off a kit hoping we could get enough accurate information to create her a toe prosthesis with a good fit and satisfactory coloration. We always indicate that coloration is always best when we work directly with our clients in one of our locations across the USA.
After a few mailings back and forth Camille finally got her durable lifelike silicone toe…without ever leaving her home in Trinidad. And we were very happy with the coloration achieved by using the custom color swatches that we send to the patient. Camille also gets a lot of credit for taking excellent color photos of our swatches next to her toes.
The series demonstrates a “Distance Program” to provide our anaplastolgy services worldwide. However, our main goal is to educate patients and physicians about our services and then direct patients to one-on-one treatment with an anaplastologist in one of our USA locations to get the absolute fastest but also the best results. Their is simply no technological substitute for individualized artistically rendered prostheses. We still welcome all opportunities to help in lower extremity rehabilitation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Most individual prosthetic fingers or toes can be done in just 3 days if you travel and stay near our office for the 3 or 4 fitting sessions. Partial foot and hand prostheses might require 2 or 3 separate trips. We are very flexible and have other fabrication options that can decrease your appointments and costs.
No. A lifelike silicone prosthesis is not implanted under your skin or anchored to your body permanently – it must be taken off regularly to be washed and to maintain the cleanliness and health of your skin.
We provide all attachment methods; adhesives, anatomical fitting, attachment to glasses, magnets, silicone bands, osseointegration, and more…
We go over all the methods that will work best for you, including osseointegration. Your doctor will help determine if osseointegration is appropriate. Your preference counts the most, but we make the decision together.
In general, we recommend that you remove your prosthesis at night for cleaning and to allow your skin to breathe. Some patients then learn from experience that they can adjust their wearing schedule. We provide personalized wear and care instructions for each client.
Almost all silicone prostheses are washed daily using isopropyl alcohol, detergent soaps like Dawn or Dove, and then rinsed, and kept dry when not in use. However, each prosthesis is unique and might require special precautions. Ultimately, we will walk you through your daily care plan and provide specific instructions tailored to your unique prosthesis.
The cost of a lifelike prosthetic finger or thumb will depend on many factors including the number of fingers involved, level of amputation, how the finger or thumb prosthesis will be suspended/attached, etc. We also take other circumstances into account if you want added function for hobbies, sports, or playing musical instruments.
There is a wide range of fees depending on how many fingers are remaining and how many prosthetic fingers or thumb need to be incorporated into the prosthetic hand, if there are alignment challenges, and how the prosthesis will be suspended. The prosthetist or anaplastologist may also propose other fabrication options to decrease patient costs and appointment obligations.
We offer several options that are provided at different costs. Costs will vary depending on how many toes are remaining, if any, level of amputation, if there are any toe alignment challenges, and how the restoration must be reinforced to provide support and stability. The prosthetist or anaplastologist may also propose other fabrication options to decrease patient costs and appointment obligations.
It is possible that your insurance will cover some or all the costs. After we receive your permission and insurance information our insurance specialist will help determine the level of coverage of your insurance plan.
Please do not assume that you cannot afford your prosthesis. We will help you determine if any insurance or 3d party payment sources are available to you. There are also credit options in some cases. This is our dedicated specialty, and we will try to create a plan for you if possible.
Most providers of custom silicone prosthetics generally agree that prostheses last 2-5 years before needing replacement or some maintenance servicing such as retinting or margin repair work. However, many of our clients go several years longer before returning to get a replacement prosthesis. Sometimes they need the prosthesis redesigned because of significant tissue changes from growing or surgeries.
No. It is much cheaper because we process the new silicone prosthesis from the safely archived precision mold that we made for your first prosthesis. The cost is often less than half the original cost. We can also create your duplicate/replacement prosthesis in just one or two days.
Possibly. If you cannot travel, you can send your prosthesis and we will try to work from photos and detailed notes that you provide to make repairs, changes, or duplicate prostheses. Of course, there are some compromises when we cannot work directly with you face-to-face. However, we will try to make you happy with our in-office service or from a distance when necessary.
